Matisse The Dance Diptych – Fauvism Two-Panel Skateboard Wall Art

Henri Matisse painted The Dance in 1910 for the Russian collector Sergei Shchukin, who hung it at the top of his Moscow staircase. Five figures in a circle, reduced to outline — no faces, no detail, only gesture and colour. Matisse used Prussian blue for the sky, bright green for the grass, and a terracotta-pink for the figures. When Shchukin saw the finished painting in Paris, he initially rejected it as too scandalous. He changed his mind.
