About deckarts

deckarts is an independent Berlin studio that turns real skateboard decks into museum-grade wall art. It was founded in 2025 by Stanislav Arnautov — a graphic designer, brand and print specialist who spent years working with apparel printing before bringing that craft into the world of interior art. Every piece is printed on genuine 7-ply Canadian maple, matte and glassless, and ships worldwide from Berlin.

A designer, first and always

Almost my entire professional life has revolved around one thing: putting artwork onto physical objects. I come from graphic design, branding and merchandising, with years spent designing prints for apparel and working hands-on with production. Today I work as a DTG (direct-to-garment) print specialist in Berlin, running professional printing equipment every day.

I also hold a master's degree in computer networks and telecommunications, and I've kept studying ever since — contemporary art, the history of material objects, streetwear, branding, luxury retail, and how AI is reshaping business. That mix of design instinct and technical understanding is exactly what deckarts is built on.

Why skateboard decks

I've always been fascinated by how an image changes depending on the material, the shape and the context it lives on. A skateboard deck felt like the perfect object: it has an instantly recognisable form, a strong link to street culture, and at the same time it reads like a stretched, elongated canvas.

I loved the idea of moving classical and contemporary art off the traditional rectangular canvas and onto an object with a character of its own. It's especially rewarding to work with diptychs and triptychs, where a single composition is split across two or three decks and only completes itself on the wall.

Between two cities

I'm originally from Donetsk, Ukraine, and moved to Berlin in 2022. Donetsk shaped my eye with its industrial aesthetic — metal, concrete, wide spaces, technical architecture, and the contrast between raw materials and decorative detail. Berlin gave me the opposite: freedom to experiment and to mix cultural codes, a place where classical art, design, graffiti, streetwear and skate culture all live side by side. deckarts sits exactly on that line — the industrial directness of one city, the creative freedom of the other.

How each deck is made

I personally handle the design and print preparation for every piece — selecting the artwork, adapting it to the shape of the deck, and working through scale, colour, composition and the transitions between boards. Years of real production experience mean I judge a design not just on screen, but by how it will actually print: how the colours behave, whether the file holds up, whether the key elements sit where they should.

Every deck is a full 7-ply Canadian maple skateboard deck — a genuine, functional board that could take trucks and wheels, even though we create it first and foremost as a wall object. I control the layouts, proportions and final look; production and fulfilment are handled by specialised partners in the US and Europe.

What deckarts stands for

I want to show that art doesn't only belong on a canvas, in a museum or behind glass. A skateboard deck is a familiar object with a strong cultural code — and when a classical painting or a contemporary artist's work appears on it, people start to see both the artwork and the object differently.

The mission of deckarts is to create accessible, expressive art objects for modern interiors, and at the same time to give independent artists a way to bring their work into physical form. I want art to be part of everyday space — not something distant and out of reach.

The collection

The deckarts catalogue spans dozens of designs — from classical masterpieces by Bosch, Klimt, Matisse, Hokusai, Vermeer and Leonardo da Vinci to modern graphics and original work by independent artists. Everything comes in three formats: single decks, two-panel diptychs, and three-panel triptychs. Selected series — such as our Blueprint collection — are released as strictly limited, individually numbered editions.

deckarts collaborates directly with contemporary artists including I AM SLIP, Citrus Rock, Frankopolax, Charlotte Hennion, Yehor Bread and Stefano Borella, and ships to customers across Europe, the US and beyond.
