How to Create a Gallery Wall with Skateboard Art

skateboard art

A skateboard art gallery wall works best when its arrangement is planned as a whole. You can combine individual decks, a multi-panel artwork and framed pieces, provided each has a clear place.

Pick an anchor

Choose the piece you want people to notice first. This may be a larger multi-panel image or a single deck with strong contrast.

Build around it rather than buying several unrelated pieces and hoping the wall will organise itself. Repeating a colour or subject can connect different images.

Test the layout

Make paper templates using the actual product sizes. Mark the image direction and leave spaces between the panels.

Try a row, a balanced group or an asymmetrical arrangement. Look at each version from the room's main viewing positions before deciding.

Keep a multi-panel image together

A diptych or triptych may contain one image divided across decks. Keep its intended order and orientation, and compare gaps carefully so the composition remains readable.

A collection of separate decks gives you more freedom to change the layout.

Install and light the display

Use appropriate mounts and wall fixings, following their instructions. A balanced composition still needs a secure installation.

Check reflections in daylight and with the room's lamps switched on. Adjusting the light position can improve visibility without adding more brightness.

Leave room for the collection to evolve. A gallery wall can feel considered without being perfectly symmetrical or filled from edge to edge.
